Ace In The Bullpen

The American businessman-politician has a long and storied history which brings us to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

This forthright billionaire just may have the right combination of managerial, risk-taking, and political skills to create a new model for public service and new model – starting with restructuring his office itself.

Bloomberg’s bullpen-style office concept in city government was made famous during his 2002 State of the City address, saying that it was created to “improve efficiency” and foster creativity. The idea comes from the stock-market trading-floor layout in which everyone works together in one big room.

Today, San Francisco’s reinvigorated Mayor Gavin Newsom is developing a bullpen plan in which to arrange cubicles in Room 201 — which is currently used for occasional meetings — In addition to better exchanging of ideas through improved proximity in the bullpen, the mayor and his staff plan to actually conduct their business there.

Typically, it’s Local “Loco” Liberal and Resident Nancy Boy, Brock of SFist, whose is too blinded by his love to hate the incumbent mayor (and moderate) to embrace the very progressive (and proven) ideas, he espouses.

And now, it looks like Brock’s liberal leanings have tipped the scales at SFist such that to include fellow blogger Jon in his (left) brainwashing.

Check out Jon’s shortsighted, short-fused reaction likening Gavin’s trading spaces to a “Battlestar Galactica” shake up - it’s the journalistic equivelent to getting cut-off by a Toyota Prius with a whirled peas bumper sticker.
SFist's liberal leanings make 'Left in SF' look like the 'Right Wing News.'
Borrowing ideas from other mayors is nothing new or unusual for Newsom. In the summer of 2005, Newsom toured Chicago with Mayor Richard Daley and touted that city’s use of surveillance cameras — which has now been initiated in San Francisco — to combat crime.

Additionally, the Mayor modeled:
  • The City’s SF Stat program — which tracks and reports how well city departments are performing — on Baltimore’s CitiStat.

  • The City’s Community Courts — which will process Quality of Life crimes — on Manhattan’s Community Courts.

  • The City’s 311 24-Hour Hotline — which routes non-emergency city service calls — in the last decade the following cities have adopted a three-digit system: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Dallas and Minneapolis.

The post also criticizes Newsom for giving raises and new job titles to worthy staff members. I say you get what you pay for. If you want to turn your football team around, hire Bill Parcels.

Newsom’s Press Secretary, Nathan Ballard, says that all these people are proven professionals, possessing the necessary skill set and experience to help the city and are within budget.

Gavin Strikes Back!

Everything you've heard is true. I was ambushed in what I can only perceive to be a retaliatory 'drive by' hit executed by the mayor's minions. Gavin's Outlawz rolled up on me in front of my hommies at a "New Media Correspondents Club" happy hour organized by Ted of SF Party Party.

From behind knockoff Gucci sunglasses complete with matching brunette bobs, Maggie and Alex orchestrated a 'first to bomb' splash down with precision and timing - spilling the contents of their cocktails full-frontal. Obviously, professionally calculated by Gavin Newsom’s gruesome twosome from the Mayor And The Hair . The whole mess smacks of a East Coast-West Coast Hip Hop rivalry resurrected between new Death Row Blogger, ‘2Smac’ Gavin Sucks.com and the ‘Notorious P.I.G.’ Gavin Newsom.

"You Niggaz Done Changed. I’m callin’ all Komradz... and my posse runs deep. Ready to Die – biatchez!"

~ '2Smac' Gavin Sucks.com

Onlookers including Jon of SFist, Paul of Beyond Chron, Joe of Jweekly.com, Sasha of Left In SF and others were shocked and horrified. A few cried out,

"That's not cool!"

"Don't hate the playah-hater... hate the lame!"

As Gav's thugs scurried away. I looked down to see. I was hit - a red liquid poured out of me, soaked and a little embarrassed. Yet, in hindsight both ladies had nice badonkadonks, so it was well worth it in the end... though it's not over 'til it's over!

Peace Out,

Dean

PS: If Gavin were a man, he'd wouldn't send a couple Marina girls like Maggie and Alex to do his bidding. Get some balls!

Gavin Newsom Sucks Microphone

You heard it here first, Gavin Sucks! Now, we have pictures to prove it.

Once again, the San Francisco mayor, Gavin Newsom, elects to impress us with another ‘poor personal decision’ (See: City Hall Sex Scandal; Diapers; Underage Drinking) when he demonstrates his oral sex best practices by wrapping his lips around a reporters microphone – an act he will need to repeat on each voter (including yours truly) if he intends to win re-election.

Check out the video as the Gav makes good on his cold shoulder promises to Dan Noyes by ignoring his questions regarding patient deaths at Laguna Honda Hospital.

Mayor's Aide Admits to Dirty Tricks

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's chief spokesman Peter Ragone admitted Wednesday to posting comments on local news-oriented Web sites using the identity of other people.
Ragone had denied using fake names to defend Newsom in online discussions at SFist and other Web sites, insisting the comments were those of the named author, John Nelson, a close personal friend.

The admission came the same day Newsom was confronting a political crisis over revelations he had an affair with an aide who is married to his campaign manager. Suspicion began to center on the blog postings last week after SFist identified the Internet Protocol address for a home computer that Ragone had been using to make comments under his own name.

Editors at the Web site checked to ensure that somebody wasn't impersonating Ragone -- but soon discovered similar comments had been posted from the same home computer but under other names and sometimes early in the morning before 8 a.m.

Other pro-Newsom blog posts made from Ragone's computer were signed by his wife and someone using the name Byorn. Peter Ragone said he didn't recall using the name Byorn.

"If it's from my (computer) IP (address), it must be me."
Newsom's political opponents have equated Ragone's actions with Nixonian political dirty tricks and called for his dismissal.
